The Plains of Sillaria

The Plains of Sillaria are the homelands of Mistyc's single herd of unicorns. These creatures present a majestic site as they run across the Plains. The magic of the Herd is a little uncertain itself, for it is as though they do not actually live, permanently, in the Realms of Mistyc, but only use it as a stop over on their journeys through the stars. The unicorns cannot always be found, but rather appear and disappear at will, and this is what makes a unicorn such a rare sight, even in these magical Realms.

The Lore of the Unicorn

The lore of the unicorn varies no matter who you talk to. However, the myth most agree upon, that unicorns only appear to virgin maidens, is not true in the Realms. The unicorns pay no attention to who is watching them as they run, though it is true that they prefer young girls who have not been corrupted by greed. To pure people, the touch of a Mistycal unicorn's horn can bring the gift of future sight, to help them through their days.

Treasures of the Unicorn

The unicorn's only treasure is its horn, but that is still saying a lot. A unicorn's horn has the power to purify air and water, grant wishes, and is the source of all their magical power. Often hunted by unscrupulous ogres, elves, and trolls, the unicorn has by far the most mobile treasure one could wish for, and its main defense is to run away, though when cornered it can create a rather nasty magical barrier around itself.

Enemies of The Unicorn

On Mistyc dragons and unicorns are mortal enemies, never able to get along with each other. The unicorns consider dragons to be the embodiment of greed and evil, the dragons consider the unicorns to be lunch. The fact that the Drachen Mountains and the Plains of Sillaria are, geographically, adjacent, does not help matters, nor does their mutual interest in young maidens. While it is in most cases a passive-aggressive feud, every so often it will flair up into an actual battle. When this happens, the various two-legged entities take cover.
