[ATTN]- Attention.  This is a post meant to be read by all.  An announcement, but more urgent than normal.

[CM]- Crystal Mountain.  The home weyr of Purrzah and Briemh posting to Alfandria.  Visit it here.

[DPS]- Dragon Poets Society.  Posts with this in the title can be counted on for interesting results, serious, silly, or just plain weird.

[DU]- Dragon University.  These posts are mostly courses taught in magic, though there can be other subjects.  They are taught by dragons, and generally welcome most types of magic.

[FF]- Food Fight.  Guaranteed to be fun and funny, join in, but don't count on getting out clean.

[F-INN]-Forest Inn.  A small shop owned by alt.fan.dragons members.

[OOC]-Out of Character.  Not that it is required, but it is used sometimes.

[OT]- Off topic.  Though in alt.fan.dragons, nothing yet has been officially proclaimed off topic and cast into the nether.

[RP] or [RPG]- Role Playing Games.  Officially declared, and most of the time serious, feel free to read these, but ask before you join.

[SBF]-Snow Ball Fight.  Similar to Food Fights, but, well, with snow!

[SQ]- Silly Question.  This is a newish tag that basically means the post is asking for information.  It's not derogatory, but it does let people know about it.

[TEST]- A well known tag, but unwelcome in most newsgroups.  However, in AFD, test threads are welcomed and even encouraged.  (That doesn't mean, though, that you can test without real purpose.)

[STORY]- Just what it says.  Stories are frequently posted, and it's nice to know whether one is opening a 5 page story or not.

[POEM] or [POETRY]- Again, poems are very often posted, and some people love'em, some hate'em.

[MEEP]- Millenium End Events Party.  This is an ongoing party by AFDers, in theory to celebrate the end of the millenium, but in practice, it's for just about anything.

[LONG]- Another tag that is seen throughout Usenet, it is generally for any new thread where the intro is over a page long.

[FT]- And I quote directly from Fang Tsu, "I'm using it for my poetry posts, or any other posts I do that are IMPORTANT. You know, things I want to get noticed."  This is a tag for this one member of AFD.

[CP]- Chocolate Point.  This means that the post is for awarding, or appointing, or has something to do with chocolate points.  Ask Wodash, Viriatha, or Karenji for details.

[AD]- Alternative Dragon.  Specialty tattoos, piercing, and other body alterations, both mundane and magical, for every lifeform and taste.  Started as a polite warning that the subject matter might be gruesomely detailed.  Run by Tephra.

[AR]- A good place to foodfight, target practice, league play, tournaments, weapons testing, and just a place to watch a fight in safety.

[ARC]- Arcanities, a magic shop in AFD for those in need of magical stuff.  Run by Icewing

[BHE]- Bounty Hunter Extreme. another shop in AFD, everything needed for bounty hunters.

[3D]- Tag for a shop in AFD sprecializing in 3d graphics etc.

[HERB]- A shop run by Polenth for rare plants and herbs.

[HLSW]-Hespa's Little Shop of Wonders, specializing in hard to find magical items.

[HH]- Another shop by Icewing, a real estate business, Homehunters Inc.

[SOH]- Icewing's "Slice O' Heaven Bakery" shop

[KK]- Koffee Klatch.  Serves coffee, tea, chai, other caffinated beverages, and morning-type pastries.  Run by Jia.

[TDL]- The Draconic Library.  All the books in time, published or not.

[GG]- Glass Garden. Bardic guild, general instruction.  For those who want to learn music.

[HL]- Healer's Hall. General medical facility managed through training and magical gifts. Run by Purzzah.

[HP]- The Hostel. Permanent and temporary housing for creatures of all kinds.

[TP]- The Trading Post.  Exactly what is says.  Run by Purrzah.

[HH]- The tag designating a shop run by Hespa, where you can get... just about anything. Not to be confused with the now rarely used Homehunters, Inc.

[SDRS]- Seaking Dragononster's Rootbeer Shop. Beverages and such run by Seaking.

[GHTA]- Getting Home To Alfandra, an rpg started by Hespa and currently running, it includes many new threads started by participating members.

[HUGESIG]- A warning to all that the post includes Athagon's really big sig.

[SHAMP]- Shameless Plug, a tag used to indicate that the post has something to do with advertising, generally for a member's website.

[DWN]- Dragonwing Nebula, a tag used by Xaqarius Shenor to warn that the post is about his website. Visit it here.

[TAG]- Used to indicate that the post covers Inter-Newsgroup Tag, a game started by Hespa. Tag! You're it! Not to be confused with this page.
